Christian Counseling: Our Last Regular Blog: Dreams!

Not many, it appears, put stock in night dreams. But it was not always this way. Consider the words of Job 33:14-18, “For God does speak—now one way, now another—though man may not perceive it. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men as they slumber in their beds, he may speak in their ears and terrify them with warnings, to turn man from wrongdoing and keep him from pride, to preserve his soul from the pit, his life from perishing by the sword.”

It is not difficult to find other instances where Scripture speaks about the importance of dreams. Joseph in Genesis chapters 40 and 41 tell stories of his ability to interpret dreams with the help of God. Those raised him to stardom in Egypt and helped to save his family. It was said of Gideon in Judges 7:15, “When Gideon heard of the dream and its interpretation he worshiped God.” Finally, consider the end time prophecy in Joel 2:28, “Your old men will dream dreams.”

Now, I don’t particularly care to think of myself as an old man because that will always be something that happens to others and only to me somewhere down the road a piece. I better like thinking of myself in light of these words in Joel, “Your young men will see visions.” I still feel young, it’s just my body doesn’t keep pace with my mind. I know, I know, maybe I should get some counseling.

My visions and dreams for the future are revealed by following present ones to the end of their course, which prepare me for and lead me to the next leg of the journey. By virtue of writing for the past few years—articles, blogs, commentary, etc.—I came to a crossroads and chose to step out on a path I swore I would never take for many reasons, that of writing a book(s). Since I didn’t want to write the same old, non-fiction content with a new title that seems to sell in Christian circles, my next journey will be writing fiction or storytelling. Do I have such a talent? Well, at least I have the motivation and interest.

In the past few weeks I have written 70 pages about an elderly man who spiritually comes of age. In his night dreams he talks with God, guardian angels and visits heaven and hell. Well, maybe it’s all really happening to him.

In the near future, should you want a preview of the ebook or to get a copy, you will need to sign up (name and email address only) on our website’s Home Page, if you haven’t already done so.
